[MUSIC PLAYING] Degenerative disk disease sounds like a dire diagnosis. But don't let the name fool you. In reality, it shouldn't be called a disease at all. Degenerative disk disease is just a general term that is used to describe the symptoms of pain that stem from a disk that has started to go through the normal process of aging. Spinal disk are soft cushioning like this that separate the bones that make up the spine. They act as shock absorbers allowing the spine to flex, bend, and twist. As we age, the disk start to age as well, meaning they aren't quite as thick as they once were and they don't provide as much support as they once did. The treatment options for truly degenerative disk disease are conservative treatment, such as physical therapy, anti-inflammatory, lifestyle modification, exercising, epidural injections, the set blocks, and we also recommend radio frequency ablation.
