Hi, there. This is Dr. Sherri Stone from BioSpine Institute. Today we're going to learn how to do the exercise called the Sphinx. It is a yoga exercise, but it's really good for strengthening your spine and your upper back. You're going to start with your forearms on the floor, everything down. You're going to push up, keeping your head looking down towards your hands. Hold this position. You should feel your back and your shoulder muscles working. If this is painful, don't push up quite as high. If this is still too painful, try coming off of your forearms and just laying. This exercise helps promote the natural arch that we have in our lumbar spine. [CALM MUSIC]
