Hi. This is Sherri Stone from BioSpine Institute. Today we're going to learn how to do a yoga pose called the straddle stretch. The straddle stretch stretches the hamstrings, the low back, and the inner thigh muscles. These muscles can get really tight when we sit for long hours in front of the computer. To perform straddle stretch, sit on a firm surface, open your hips as wide as possible keeping your knees straight and your toes pointed towards the ceiling. You're going to lean forward from your hips. Your hips are here. Do not over round your back. You want to lean as far as you comfortably can in between your feet feeling a stretch in the hamstrings, the inner thighs, and your low back. You can bow your head if that feels comfortable. Hold this position for as long as possible and up to 1 minute. If this is too difficult, try bringing your feet in a little bit and don't bend down as far. Keep your feet pointed to the ceiling and the knees still straight. If the still is too difficult, just try sitting up tall. Perform straddle stretch to keep those hamstrings loose and to eliminate and prevent back pain. [AUDIO LOGO]
